Hey guys can someone recommend an inexpensive bait caster that can handle light lures , I know light is subjective but I want something I can use for light jigs and weightless worms .. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Diawa Laguna bait casters are good for the money and can throw fairly light lures. I recently bought an H2O Mettle reel from Academy and although I haven't tried any light lures on it yet, a fiend of mine has several and I have seen him throw 1/8 oz. jig heads with 2 1/2 and 3" plastic grubs a good distance. He also throws Zoom finesse worms with 1/16 oz. weights with them.

LakeForkGuy on YouTube reviews Shimano reels and I saw, but can't find his very positive review of the Shimano Casitas, a $119 reel. It is made of Shimano's composite material, super light, and he says he thinks it actually casts farther than the $400+ Shimano Aldebaran.

Sounds like a really great low end baitcaster to me. Sorry, I looked through his videos, couldn't find it again for some reason.

Tatula type R for 119 shipped on ebay. Seems to be a good all around reel especially for the price.

I just bought the H2O Maxim at Academy for $24.00 , it had some really good review and I figured for the money if I was wrong it was not to bad a deal . Well I loaded it up and have been practising for a few hours and it really is smooth and casts well . I don't know what it will be like when I hook my first fish but so far just casting is nice and at that price !

Congrats on a good deal. My friend who has the H20 Mettle reels also has an H20 Maxim and likes it very well too.

I tried to buy one at my local Academy a few hours ago and they were out darn it.
