I'm looking for a good high retrieve rate reel with a good line capacity. The specs listed for this reel seem to be superior in that respect. Please list any good/bad experiences you have had with this reel or input you have had from others regarding this.

What's the price on that reel? Bass Pro reels are similar inside to a Lew's or Abu Garcia. If the price is right I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

Hmmm for $10 cheaper you can get the Tatula CT in a 8.1:1 ratio. And I highly reccommend the Daiwa. They make quality reels. Very smooth and will cast a mile. My .02 though. I just prefer Daiwa the Bass Pro is not a bad reel by any means id just prefer to save the $10 and get the Tatula CT.

I would avoid anything with the Bass pro label on it. Their store brand stuff is cheap, Chinese knockoffs and for the same money, maybe less, you can buy name brand, quality stuff.
If you do decide to buy name brand merchandise, you can find it cheaper online with no tax and in some cases free shipping. BPS and Cabelas sell at full retail, no discounts on anything except clearance items.

I've got two Tatulas. I like them a lot but they have wider spools than the rest of my reels and for optimal performance for ME I run them with a lower line level on the spool than some of my others. I think the Johnny Morris has a narrower spool and I might be able to run it where my line was at a higher level. This would give me a faster retrieve rate even if both were 8.1:1. I'm just wondering if people like this reel or are having mechanical problems or casting problems. It might turn out that I would hate them as much as the Quantum Burner I have, which , FOR ME, is the most untunable reel I have ever laid hands on.

Back to the name brands.. Only guys with a lot of money can afford to buy cheap stuff.

Ive done this before and I can do it again since you seem to go around everywhere and bash store brand stuff. I can remove the handle side plates on an Abu Garcia, Lew's, and Bass Pro reel and I would bet you $20 that you would have a hell of time figuring out which reel is what brand. They are all under the pure fishing umbrella. The main differences being features, cosmetics, etc.

And you want to talk about made in china??? How about a $300 Quantum EXO "high end" reel.... That is guess what!? MADE IN CHINA

As is most of the cheaper and same price Name brand stuff you mention especially considering this is a $130 reel hes looking at. Most of the lower end name brand stuff in this same price range is also MADE IN CHINA. So I really don't understand your point?

I don't believe the more expensive BPS reels are made in china I think they are Korean reels but whatever my point is your argument is dumb. The BPS reel will be a fine reel and will last as long as he takes care of it. Ive seen my fair share of BPS reel in my reel repair days and none of them have had any major problems. And most had been abused pretty hard.

Sorry for the rant Bassalong just get tired of seeing this guy bash store brand. They are good reels and like I said before I wouldn't hesitate to buy the one you are looking at if it has the features you want.

I would disagree with this generalization. The vast majority of internal parts are interchangeable between many BPS reels, Lews, and ABUs. I have rebuilt all three. You can even interchange side covers between the Abu Orra and the BPS Pro Qualifier. Due to cosmetics they don't perfectly align around the edges but mechanically and functionally they do.
The reels are not cheap knockoffs. They are the real deal. My own preferences are based on the features offered, drag type, and gear ratio.
I rebuilt two Pro Qualifier reels and knocked almost two ounces off the weight by using a main gear from a Carbonlite and a main shaft from a Lews Pro Speed Spool.

Ive been trying to tell this guy this for 3 or 4 posts now but he just keeps coming with the same bogus argument. Those of us that have actually worked on reels know the truth though. Very well said!

At first I was shocked by all the same parts but then it became a game to figure it all out. I found that BPS has the best price on parts especially if you can get used parts off their reel pile. I got many carbon fiber handles for $5 each.
I decided to add centrifugal brakes to my plain Lews Speed Spools. Pro Qualifier parts and Spools are a drop fit. The BPS spool has 6 brakes compared to Lews 4. Add some ceramic bearings and you really have a $250 reel at half that price.

Found out the top of the line Gander Mountain reel is really an older Daiwa model, very nice.
Top of the line Academy reels use the same parts as the professional grade Pinnacles. Very nice parts.

Im curious how you get the used parts form Bass Pro? Just call them up or what? Id buy a ton of [censored] from them if I could figure out that part. I Know how to buy new stuff from them no problem.

That's good to know about the other too. I have often thought to myself that the gander mountain reels look like the old Daiwa Zillions and I guess I was right lol. I also thought the pro qualifiers were ALOT like the speed spools and again guess im right there. THanks for sharing that info Rick!

Yes, just call BPS support and ask. Once I found out what they were selling and the price I ordered a bunch. Pick out a parts list and ask them.

Fyi... not ALL parts interchange on those. I know for a fact the spool on a lews doesnt fit a revo spool... had to order that part from lews

Also lews is not under pure foshing umbrella
