Alright, got an AbuGarcia Ambassadeur 6601 C4... Its a big reel, and I do not have any like it. What kinda bass setup should I let this reel specialize in? Its a 6.3:1 gear ratio. I was thinking a heavy rod and crankbaitin with it?

What would you use if for and what rod and line would you pair it up with???

myself i,d use it for rigging or pitching plastics you will get good distance out of it rigging.would rig it with a falcon lizard dragger and 20# main and 14 to 17 leader.

Yep get your self a flippin stick or at least something long with some backbone

I dont think id use that for a flipping/ pitching reel as I dont think it has a thumb bar and its a pain to keep reaching over to hit the casting button. I think it would work well for a dd22 crank bait reel or caronline rig rod

Carolina rigs and swimbaits on a 7'6"+ med/hvy to hvy rod. You will have to pay close attention to the reeling speed with some swimbaits but it will probably cast some of the heavier swimbaits a country mile.

I'd use it as a trade in for a more appropriate reel.

Thanks for the advice, sounds like I will go get a rod in the 7'6" md heavy variety. I had thought about using it for flipping, but like p3ripperfw said plus its kinda big to palm!
FZ1, I like that idea too, but it is a gift from my dad and he fishes the same reel and loves it. Now I gotta use it and outfish him with it!
