It's very common IF the Lowrance transducer was providing on plane depth with a Lowrance unit. James is just going into more detail that what you would normally get. The model of the Y cables in the video are discontinued and are different now. Currently its the 9 M SIDB Y for the Helix MEGA and 14 M SIDB Y cable for the SOLIX.

Thanks, Wayne!!!! I think I'm going to try it and see if I can get rid of my Lowrance 5X Pro on my console.

Well, I received my two cables and got under my console to disconnect my Lowrance transducer and found a different type of connector than the MotorGuide cable suggested. My Lowrance connector is a partial round female all black connector not gray and blue male connector. My connector also includes the transducer and power cable for the sonar. Any suggested substitutes would be greatly appreciated.

Had to buy one more cable from Lowrance that converts a 6pin connector to a 7pin blue connector. Installed all the cables(3) yesterday and the video was correct, you can use a Lowrance 2d transducer on a HB Helix sonar if you buy enough adapter cables.
