Anyone have any thoughts or insight into these new units coming out?

I have Gen1 HDS 9 (console) & HDS 5 (bow).

Thinking about the HOOK2 12 TripleShot at the console and moving the HDS 9 up front with the HDS 5.

Price point for the HOOK2 12 TripleShot is a heck of a lot more attractive than the HDS Gen2 12....

But want to make sure I'm not losing something moving from the HDS to the HOOK2.

I believe networking capabilities is the biggest thing that you lose. Other than that they look to be good units at a good price point.

The Hook-2 units are going to be a great product for the cost. With the Triple Shot units, you will have Downscan, Sidescan, GPS Mapping and Sonar. You cant beat the price of the new Hook2 4-inch to 12-inch units for the features you get. However they are stand-alone units so you will not be able to network them together like you can HDS units. The options that require the Lowrance network will not be available on the HOOK. But they fit in very well if those things are not a have to have. Lowrance is going to sell a lot of these units!!!

If you fish down the bank and dont mind using bouy markers then Hook 2 units are ok.. I would buy another HDS 9 and link with other 9 and a point one puck

Another good video to show you how to choose your HOOK2:

I'm actually playing with a HOOK2 and I'm really impress with how easy it is to go through the Menu and the thing that bothers with reason was how slow was the zoom in-zoom out function and how slow the gps was on the previous HOOK and before that the Elite. Can't try it on the water, boat is winterize and we receive 6-7in. of snow last night and it's still snowing; I intent to run in the car to analyse how fast is the gps when moving. The zoom function is very fast so I'm pretty sure the gps will also be fast. Screen is very clear and crisp.
But from what I see now I think it's going to be perfect for the fisherman that want to have a good unit w/o all the bell and whistles.
