Many of you (like myself) have gone to one of the motor-drive steering trolling motors for their anchoring ability. If you are having an issue with the mounting of these units or are having damage occur due to contact while launching, loading or docking I would like to offer up the following possible solution.

I don't know how many of you visit that section so I posted it up here as well. Mods - if you need to move or delete, I understand. I was just trying to share with fellow fishermen or those having issues with their trolling motors.

Guys,

I just wanted to talk a bit about the bracket that Ron has made for the Xi5. I had the pleasure of not only seeing it in person but getting to see it put through some testing. It's extremely functional. I watched it as we launched, and docked the boat and it eliminates all the drawback of having the Xi5. I'm sure we can all agree the amount of overhang these units have is a turn off because of slamming the roller and pulling up to docks. Not only does it add mounting surface area for piece of mind but with it in the up position you don't have to worry about damaging the unit. Once on the water there is no slop or noise from the mount when on the trolling motor. We jumped a few rollers out there from big wakes and it took it in stride with no problem. I think it's a well designed product that works perfectly for what it's intended for. If you have an Xi5 or are thinking about getting one do yourself a favor and check out Ron's lifesaver mount, it won't disappoint.
