I finally upgraded and got a Lowrance Elite 7. I have to say the manual is good for starting a fire and that is about it. First time I went to Fork and GPS worked great showing contours lines. Yesterday and went to Lavon and everything looked fine leaving ramp. Then it lost satellite and while I did get the signal back I never saw contour lines again. Also on Fork it displayed the lake name but not on Lavon. Do I need to buy a map card to see contour lines?

Did you go to the navionics site and download the updates for that machine? You may want to get them and install them.

I went to Hubbard today and GPS showed contours and features. Not sure why it does not at Lavon. Fished Lavon again Friday and no contours. Looked at updates on Lowrance website and they appeared to be dated after my unit was made.
