I have noticed a slowly accumulating puddle of oil under my ProV 150. I assumed the trim must have a bad seal. I discovered it was engine oil leaking from the intake gasket. I removed the cover and the carbs looked good but there was oil puddled below the carbs. I have read several possible causes but would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem. I am not a huge fan of oil injection and have thought about disconnecting it and mixing my oil and gas. I had the injection disconnected on my old 350 Ranger and never had to worry if the pump was over or under lubricating the engine. What do you think about shutting off the oil injection. My Pro V is 26 years old.

Not sure if this is your particular problem or not, but a friend of mine had the same issue a short time ago. His older Yamaha started dripping oil. He took it to our local boat dealer and the mechanic found the issue pretty quick. There is a oil (catch/overflow) box on those older engines that catch any excess oil and his had finally filled up over many years of use and it was running over. Mechanic emptied the box and cleaned everything up and no more oil drips. You might check yours out to see if that is the issue.

Thanks. That is interesting and it makes sense. The oil is dripping out of the carburetor cover but all 3 carbs are dry. At first I thought it was hydraulic fluid until I took the motor cover off. I just bought shop manuals for my motor and I will definitely look into that. Thanks Tommie.
