Is there a cable that you can power your unit on just to get used to the settings that will be portable such like the laptop charges or one with a USB to power connection, one that you could plug in inside the house? For HDS 8

You can buy an inverter at Radio Shack that will let you turn it on. Several options actually. Lowrance sells a cigarette power plug that'd work with an inverter or some of the Radio Shack ones let you wire the plug straight to it. But the easiest to me would be to buy a 12 battery (like the ones used in deer feeders, some surge protectors, etc) and put some spade crimps on the factory wiring harness. Hope this makes sense, I'm typing in a hurry.
