I am looking for a good quality fish finder for new boat. Any reccomendations , my budget is 500.00

What features do you want? SI, DI 2D,maps, etc? As far as Humminbird you might get a Helix 7 in that range depending on what features. Are you going to eventually get another and network them? Best bang for the buck would be buy a used one and then you could get a larger screen.

Be patient Right now is the priciest time to buy a new fishfinder at retail. October, the previous years model/generation will go on clearance The clearance prices usually go until February
Keep an eye on the classified section here and Craigslist. Bought my recent lightly used fishfinders(humminbird g2 helix 7 si and lowrance elite 5 this way at good prices$400 and $180 respectively). It took me two months of closely tracking TFF classifieds and Craigslist to find what I wanted at the price I was looking for
Every now and then Dicks will have a flash sale at really good prices
