I'm hoping there is a setting that I'm missing that's causing this. I set the max depth manually and auto and for some reason I'll be idling along marking and lose bottom. Side imaging is good...

I'm having a few issues with mine doing it and also my temp readings. Sometimes it will be what it should then next thing you know if will be telling me the water is 200+ degrees. I am going to look to see if they have another update to the unit.

I typically recommend setting it at 125 feet in fresh water lakes. What freqs are you using?

If you are in shallow water and this issue is present try turning off chirp. Menu-Menu, scroll across to set up scroll down to chirp config.

The definition for chirp "you are going to need a longer line" Chirp is for deep water.

Turning off CHIRP is not necessary. In the 83/200 setting, with CHIRP on it is shown as Medium/High. Angle and speed both play into the units ability to read. The 200 kHz settings can cause unnecessary loss of bottom at times.

If you find this happening change your sonar freq to Medium only. This will assist in some cases. The only benefit of running medium/high together is if you use the sonar split screen view which shows separate views of the 83 on one side and the 200 on the other. If that isn't something you regularly view, you will not lose anything. Your 2D sonar screen will appear the same and you SI and DI are not affected.

Set to 83 kHz alone and see if that improves it.
