I have to replace the LSS-1 transducer on the TM due to an off water accident. Currently, a LSS-1 transducer and LSS-1 Structure Scan Box is connected to the bow HDS9 G3. Which works best with the HDS9 G3/LSS-1 Structure Scan module, LSS-1 or LSS-2 transducer? I plan to keep the Structure Scan Box as is. FYI - this unit (HDS9 G3) is connected to the console's HDS10 G2, which has its own HDS Structure Scan LSS-1 module and transducer on the stern. They are connected via NMEA2k but not by Ethernet.

I'd appreciate in practical experience input for screen quality and performance. I don't know if an LSS-2 would even fit on the TM (MG Xi5).

Can`t speak on the Gen 3 unit but I have a HDS 10 Gen 2 on my console a HDS 7 Gen2 up front and have used a LSS1( very short) transducer on the Troll Motor and in back with no Module and have had great pictures.I did have to use the HDS adapter between the units & Transducer no module/ structure scan box needed.Just the Adapter!

Since your Gen3 unit is at the bow... i would just get a total scan transducer. This will give you 2d, down scan and left/right scan on the tm. Just plug it in the back of the unit. You will need a TM bracket.. go to http://www.russellmarineproducts.com/category-s/545.htm and get the bracket for the tm.

From all my readings of the various forums, where it�s at now is the 3d ducer. Not so much for the 3d part, but for all the extra crystals that give enhanced images.

As far as the lss1 & 2, my lss2 gave better crisper si images and my lss1 gave better di. But I�m currently running 2- lss1�s just because I prefer their compact size compared to the lss2. The lss2 also gives a few more feet of useable si distance.

My structure scan transducer is on the back of boat. Up front I run the HDI transducer as it fits better on a trolling motor and provides sonar and down-scan.

I use the Total scan on my Gen3, but I've heard the LSS-2 has better imagery. I just hate having to put 3 transducer on my boat for the different graphs on the boat; so I chose the total scan + trolling motor 83/200. just my opinion for my use case.
