I am looking at getting a Garmin SV74 with both cards for fresh and salt but wanted to hear from anyone using Garmin. Are they as good as Lowrance and Hummingbird. I can get this unit on sale cheaper than the 5 in in either Lowrance Elite or Humingbird SI and way cheaper than the 7 in either one.

Yes, they all have their pros and cons.

But Garmin makes nice units.

Do they mark fish using the imaging very well?

Heard some complaints from owners/ former owners.....

I just ordered a 93sv. Seems like the best bang for the buck. Pretty impressed. I currently have helix units.
Alot of posts on bbc saying garmin has something big in the works to unveil this year.
Mapping ought to be the best in the business once they incorporate the navionics data into their own mapping software since they bought out navionics.
They also settled with navcom? (Lowrance) in the lawsuit regarding di crystals. I believe better transducers are in the near future.
Garmin has panoptix.
Good units, great prices. Good tech and customer support. I dont see how ya can go wrong. Go to basspro n demo one. Pretty impressive imo.
