just got a new to me boat and it has HDS 8 and 7 with the structure scan. I have always used Humminbirds and know absolutely nothing about Lowrance. I really dont want to upgrade right now so im going to learn to use what i have.My question is how do i turn on the structure scan to get side imaging. I was messing with settings other day but could not figure it out. Does Structure scan have a seperate power button. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks Rut

The LSS module has three power wires, Red+12, Black-12/Gnd and yellow. The yellow wire is a wake-up wire for the module. It can be connected to +12 directly, to +12 through a switch or connected to the yellow wire coming out of the HDS unit. If connected to the HDS yellow wire, then the LSS module will power up when the HDS is turned on. If connected directly to +12, then the module will remain on all of the time which will drain the battery during storage.

The LSS module has 5 LED's on it. Power, Link/Act 1-3 and Sonar. The Power LED should be solid green, the Sonar LED should either be solid green (Transducer detected and locked onto bottom) or flashing green(Transducer detected and not locked onto bottom) and the Link/Act LED should be flashing yellow for any port which has an Ethernet cable connected to it. The LED's are not very bright so sometimes hard to see. You should check the LED's with the HDS units powered up. Each HDS unit should have an Ethernet cable (yellow connector on back of HDS unit) running from the back of the HDS to one of the ports labeled 1-3 on the LSS module. If all of the LED's look normal then you should be ready to go. Press the pages key on the HDS and arrow over to the Structure option on the carousel.
