 LSS1 transducer into LSS2

If I plug a lss1 transducer directly into a touch unit...or into an lss2 box without the adapter vs with the adapter....are the results hard to tell a difference from each other? Or is it noticeable with the adapter in-line?
Just seems like alot of money for an adapter thats just supposed to filter the signal a little.

I have used it all 3 ways and the difference is slim.
