My xi5 works fine in the driveway turns speeds decels but on the water put it down when i hit propeler button it turns on then right off a second later like tha battery is dead.

Got home tried it and everything works. Anyone have this issue or know whats up.

Test your breaker, and make sure it is sized correctly. In your driveway, freewheeling the prop, there is no load to speak of. In the water there is, and it may be tripping it. All this said assuming it has one that is self resetting.

Is your wiring the correct size, I had similar issue but it was running on higher for more than a minute but not much longer.

I had a minnkota maxxum 80lb 24v that was on it. Used the same wire and same 50 amp.breaker and plug.

Check to see if connections in the plug are clean and tight. Loose connections can cause high resistance that can cause a fire or trip the breaker.

You might want to rethink this setup. The Maxxum max amp draw is 56 amps as is most 24v trolling motors. A 60 amp is recommended. The Xi5 maybe similar in specs depending on size and as already mentioned check cables size.
