I just changed boats and now I have a Lowrance HDS 12 with a skimmer transducer. With my last hummingbird I installed a thru hull transducer and was able to get good readings up to about 55 MPH. Can I expect the same if I install one with the Lowrance? Any particulars on which one?

I assume you had a SHOOT-THRU with your Humminbird.
A thru-hull takes a 1"+ hole through the hull for the installation.

You can do the same with a Lowrance too. The shoot-thru puck is easier to install than the round transom transducer.
