I like using it when planning trips. When you first install the software, it lets you install your Navionics maps to your computer. You can save waypoints, trails or routes then load that file to your units. It will open and save files in gpx, usr version 2-4 or 5(I don't remember for sure) and Googe Earth format. I like using ExpertGPS more for actual editing but I like using the two together. I think it's worth it just being able to pull up the Navionics map on your computer and not having to pull it up on your graph. Once the maps are installed to your computer, you don't have to insert your Navionics chip into the computer's card reader anymore. I don't remember how much it cost but I think it was $20 or $30 and I have wasted that much money on crazier things. I think it is well worth it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Have a Blessed Day,
Mike

Hey Mike2718 what operating system did you install it on , I tried it on windows 10 and never got it to work and since the help desk is only open during normal work hours I was never able to get help except thru email . When ever I tried to pull up a map I made or d/l from the Insight web site at AT5 format all I would get was a white square I could not even see the preview.

I finally got an answer on what the problem was with my maps , it turns out Insight Planner is not fully compatible with maps created in Insight Genasis! What sense that makes I don't know , to say the least I was very disappointed I mean the program cannot view maps made by its own hardware , really !

It will work on Windows 10 that is what I'm running. Try this and see if it will work for you, First download your lake and uzip the files in a folder and name the folder whatever your lake name is. Now right click on the folder and scroll down to copy and click it. Now go to your Document folder and find Insight Planner, open it and go to Charts then go to Insight and open it, now right click and paste your lake folder into it. Now go back to Insight Planner and click on Charts now click on refresh a couple times then click on Insight, you should then see your lake file, click on file and then click on OK. It will open up the World Map now move map to the USA and zoom in to where your lake should be. Mine does not show up in the white box you have to go to the USA and zoom in to find your lake. If the refresh does not bring up your lake files close Insight Planner and open back up your lake file should show up now. Hope this works for you.
