I just bought the 93Sv. I have'nt installed it yet. I have a friend who has a 93 & i really liked the down imaging, traditional sonar & especially the mapping.I would suggest going to a location your familiar with & playing with the settings. Make small adjustments & wait for the screen to update. Bridges or brush piles you know well are the places i would suggest using to get your settibgs dialed in. You might also try asking this question in the bass fishing or open freshwater sections. They have a lot more followers & this might get you some responses from someone who knows much more about them than i do. Good luck

do you need to buy anything else(gps box or cables?), or is this good right out of the box?

Nope, don't need anything else. For the price point, you can't beat these new echoMAP units. They have built-in Side/DownVu, and come with an all-in-one transducer (2D sonar, Side, and Down). These echoMAP units will also share wpts with another echoMAP unit.

These units function very well straight out of the box using default settings. Most of what you may adjust would be just personal preferences, like sonar and side/down color palettes.

Thanks for the info . I need to get out more and mess with the settings . Went out sunday to lake Arlington and able to see spawnings beds on the bottom . Once I turned the brightness up and turned the contrast down the soft returns where alot better.
