i have a 1198 and a 997 humminbird and i do not leave them on my boat. i am looking for a padded or foam lined to transport them in to and from the lake .i have looked at the pelican cases but they are very expensive and diaper bags are too small .any suggestions appricated

Go to a camera shop. They have a variety of padded bags for video cameras and such and are not as expensive as Pelicans.

I use the Plano pistol case for my HB 998. Remove the middle foam pad.

Ditto the Plano case, I think it's $12 at WalMart (can't beat the price, it's either 12 or 20, either is awesome). Have one for my sonars (fits and HDS8 and HDS5 together with room to spare). I also picked up another for some mixing boards and cables.
