How does an amateur get to fish in the BASS Masters' tournaments?

Is there a Q-school like the PGA? Or, is it by invitation?

You can sign up for any BASS event up until the Elite series. You have to qualify to fish the professional tour (Elite Series) by finishing in the top 5 in points in the Bassmaster Open Series.

Thanks.

From the different tournaments that i"ve read it seems you just pay the entry fee and you can fish.

Which is why it now makes sense when on the articles I've read about jumping into a higher division to early.

Oddly enough I was asking for my own knowledge, and for my nephew. He is a fish catching machine. Told him to check out the bass clubs at his college.

Used to be that way, good ole boy system with who got in, now it IS performance based to get in and stay in, after you do qualify for the elites they take a 2 year rolling average and you must stay in the top 70 in points to keep your tour card.
