Proverbs 16:11
Honest scales and balances belong to the Lord; all the weights in the bag are of his making. What does this scripture mean to you?Tournament date: July 23, 2016.
Come fish with some honest men and if your are good, lucky, or both, win some $.

I got the scripture from Bass Master Classic winner, Alton Jones. He helped me turn it into a Devo at our Texoma tournament back in 2011. The verse was written over 3,000 years ago and fit perfectly for us in our club's lakeside devo.
I like it because you could relate it to weigh-in scales and fish in bags at tournaments.
Alton said this verse simple means........"God is COMPLETELY in control. We never need to cut corners to get anything that God intends for us to have and He will always meet our needs in His own perfect timing!"
The life application study Bible (NIV) notes say this
.
Whether we buy or sell, make a product or offer a service we know what is honest and what is dishonest. Sometimes we feel pressure to be dishonest in order to advance ourselves or gain more profit. But if we want to obey God, there is no middle ground . God demands honesty in every business transaction. No amount of rationalizing can cover for a dishonest business practice. Honesty and fairness are not always easy, but they are what God demands. Ask him for discernment and courage to be consistently honest and fair.
A friend once said that the rule to be honest is as old as the day is long. Deuteronomy is a re-telling of the law. In Deuteronomy we get a summary of the law re-told to Israel before entering Canaan. It's important that this one gets re-told while others did not. Honesty and integrity are important to God.
Deuteronomy 25:13-16 says God detests a dishonest person.
Bottom line...
There is only one Tournament Director in our life and his scales are perfect. What we do in life will be judged by God. The weights in the bag, they are of his making, he created the fish and blessed us with the ability to catch them.
Don't sweat it if you think the weigh-in is unfair. Too many guys let it ruin their day when they think the scales were off during the weigh-in or something happened during the tournament that they thought was unfair. It could be as little of a thing as an extra drop of water in the weigh-in bag that puts you ahead or behind someone. It does not really matter because God is in control! If someone is dishonest it's not our worry. It's all part of God's plan and He will deal with them using His own scales and in His own time.
The Lake Fork tournament is only 2 weeks away.

It'll be hot, but I'm planning to be there! Great! Due to the heat, we are ending the tournament at 2 pm. I am still not sure what ramp we are launching out of. Probably Lake Fork Marina. I'll post it when the final decision has been made. .

We are launching out of Oak Ridge Marina. There is lots of shade for the weigh-in. http://www.oakridgemarina.com/See our website for the rules, lake off limits time periods, and any other info. If you have a tip for the men fishing, post it here, or on our facebook page in the comment section. .

The Lake Fork Open High School Tournament will be on July 23rd & 24th. There will be over a hundred teams fishing the tournament. They are going out of Oak Ridge. They fish from 6:00 Am until 12:00 noon. It gets pretty crowded around there.

This forum is Great! Thanks Old Man for the useful tip. I think we will probably need to find another ramp. Any suggestions on one with a lot of shade?
