I think we finally have turned the corner and can feel a change of seasons. Temps dropped below 60 here in Katy and the water is clearing up a bit due to a lack of rain, so I took my 5wt fly rod and some "worm flies" out to the bayou for a field test. To raise the difficulty level, I went in the middle of the day and fished a very popular area. I was pleasantly surprised to catch a few crappie and one bass. I expect that fishing will generally be getting better each day from now to the end of the year.

That is one HUGE bayou! Nice catches! Is that in Cinco Ranch by chance?

Do you go by bicycle? The fishing spots look to be so far from parking.

Great stuff!!!

I live in Brenham but come into my office in Houston on Mondays and Wednesdays. We need to do some fly fishing together one evening. I love exploring new places. Especially the creeks where few other people venture.

I walk in most of the time, but recently used my bike to save time.

I'm afraid you would be rather disappointed with the bayou fishing here, because it takes a lot of fishing to do a little catching. I do it for the exercise and fly casting practice. Catching fish is an added bonus. I'm definitely looking forward to cooler weather and crappie fishing Yegua!
