I live just up the road from Bethnay park in Allen. I am new at fly fishing (just got back from good trip to little Red River in Ark) I want to just fish a little for what ever to get more experiecne with the rod and all. I think they use to stock trout in one of the ponds in Bethnay lake and I pretty sure there are some pan fish in there. I just wnat to do some catch and release and get pratice. Has any one done any fly fishing in those lakes?

Head to the Bank Fishing subforum and look at the Community Lakes thread. Tons of discussion on Bethany Lakes in there. It is a very popular park for fishing and gets lots of pressure. There are trout stocked each December but they are all caught/die after a few months. As far as the other fish there are a ton of bass and sunfish that will take flies. Most of the bass are small due to overpopulation but there are very occasionally larger fish caught. As far as flies, throw a size 10-12 olive woolly bugger and everything that swims there will have a go at it.

Just to the northeast of the park there is a very small pond at PineBluff Dr and WestWindDr.
Do not know if it has water in it right now, but this was one of my top spots for taking kids fishing as if there was water could always catch perch. Fished the narrow section new WestWind Dr where narrows down and throw up near the reeds.

The 2 ponds at the north side of the park have a lot of moss making it difficult to fish.
The pond that looks like a strip pit has fish but as mentioned above a lot of pressure.
Would fish from side closest to Bethany or the east side where does not have rock banks.
