Has anyone fly fished at Mustang Island State Park? I’m wanting to know if it would be a good place for wade fishing for a couple of noobies to the salt. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

If the wind/surf is down the ocean side could be good. I know the fish pass jetties hold fish sometimes.

My impression of the bay side was that it was very muddy and difficult to wade, which I found frustrating. But I'm far from expert on the matter, and others may have better information.

If you find conditions there unfavorable I've had good luck at the nearby Packery and Port A jetties, which I found much easier to fish/cast.

You can find good access to wade fishing on the bay side of the park if you take the park road on the north side of Fish Pass Go all the wayto the end and you will see a small peninsula if the tide is out. The bottom in this area is hard sand and grass with some soft spots near shore. Watch out for rays.
