I enjoyed catching a mixed bag of fish and turtles from Mason creek. Today's catch included a soft shell turtle, bass, gasper goo (drum), catfish, and several crappie. I also came across a couple water hazards during the morning, a water moccasin and a gator. The crappie were eating up a yellow bead head wooly bugger. Last, Friday I drove 85 miles one way in search of crappie and I'll be dang if I didn't find them here in Katy, just a couple miles from the house.

Well done! Gators are getting to be a common site across Texas.

Nice fish. Yes Sir it is that time of year when snakes will be getting very active before the upcoming winter. A good reminder to be looking where you step.

I bet that gator would put up a good fight on a 10 wt with a steel leader and a giant bullfrog fly that's your problem when you get him in the boat though

Nah, he's bank fishing so he can just drag him up on the bank. Now getting that bullfrog fly back may be a challenge

I was fishing down at the coast in Georgia once and a gator ate my bobber, but not the shrimp below it. I don't think he knew what was going on, because I dragged him 20 yards towards me (I was standing on a bridge) before the gator gave up and let go.
