This isn't really a Fly Fishing question but I figured you guys would know the answer - the family is going to be heading up to Broken Bow and I'd like to take the kids fishing. Anyone have any suggestions? The kids are 6 and 7. Will probably have a salmon egg under a bobber but if you guys have any other tips I'd appreciate it. They don't care about the size of the fish, they just want to catch something. Thanks.

I'm not good with location names but the area where the bridge is blown out is great for kids. My kids had good luck on rooster-tails too.

That would be the old Cold Hole bridge and that would be a good spot. Another spot would be be the blue zone side of the Evening Hole bridge. After the log stops come out there will be some more easy to fish spots

Don't overlook tried and true earthworms. They work real well on the trout in there too.

Thanks guys. I'm not real familiar with the area but after some googling I think I figured out the areas you're referring to. Cold Hole is the red circled area and the blue zone side of Evening Hole is circled in green. Is this correct?

If you are fishing with bait, you can only fish above the washed out bridge where the red circle is. Below is artificials, barbless, no bait, Catch and release.
If you want something other than trout, head to the lake for sunfish or bass.

I'd probably just set up camp with some salmon eggs under bobbers below the base of the spillway. Since the flood the lmf isn't all that kid friendly or even adult friendly for that matter when it comes to access and fishing. I'm 19 and I don't even like scaling a lot of the rocks and stuff anywhere between old cardiac hill and the evening home. You might also try downstream of the evening hole, easier access in there

You can't be serious..... catch and release with power worms? On a fly fishing forum? And asking for advice?

Ahhh, come on. Help him with the kids. If they enjoy it we can convert them to fly fishing later.
