Well I was going to scout sandbass this morning but my friends kid got sick at school. About two o'clock another friend calls and wanted to go chase some bass was a two hour drive but weather was to nice so said what the heck. I grabbed the 8wt and took off. I stripped and articulated baitfish pattern to be avail. I finally tied on a olive chatter sculpin. A few strips after a good sink then I would kill it and let it free fall. After a few cast before I could resume stripping the rod was almost ripped from my hands. They were real Bulldogs today. Just didn't want to give up. For about an hour right at the end of this evening they went on a feeding Tate. One just short of 8 another right at 5 two right at 4 and several others in the two to three lb range. Couldn't have been more pleasant for February.

WOW , that is a nice bass ! Ok you took the 8-wt rod . If you took the 5-wt you talked about before do you think you still would have landed that biggest one without a problem ?

With this mild winter the grass did not die back much I was fishing heavy grass so you needed the backbone to drag them out

Ron I landed one bigger than that on my tfo 4wt in December. So it can be done but it was at a different lake in open water.

I still think it takes more skill to catch them this size Robert
