Belize is on my bucket list. Very envious right now. Looks like you had a good time.

I chased the tarpon for two days but no hook ups. The bone fish wore me out on Day 1 for sure. The tarpon did not cooperate but i saw plenty of them. My buddy caught a small permit while we were bonefishing. Chased some permit as well but no hook ups!

I have never caught a bonefish or permit but I have caught tarpon in Mexico and the Bahamas. These were just on one day trips while on vacation with my wife. But, some day soon, my wife said we can go on a week long fishing trip and that's what I want to do - spend a week chasing Tarpon in Belize.
Did you find this time of year good for Tarpon fishing there?

Looks like a blast. My wife went there and wants us to go back. Did you do it yourself or go with a guide?

We did go with a local guy named Ivan who was probably about 60 years old and a pretty smart guide. He is from Placencia, born and raised. We saw a lot of tarpon some in groups and some cruising by themselves around the mangroves. I have researched and read about the "best" times to go and the opinions vary it seems. The bonefish were plentiful and we saw more permit down around Placencia than I did in Ambergis Caye in February. I think we saw one group of permit while fishing around Ambergis Caye but they were very spooky. The groups of permit we saw on this trip were not as spooky and more plentiful. But again its "fishing" and you never know what any day will bring. On our February trip we stayed at a small place called Victoria House just south of San Pedro on Ambergis Caye. It was a great experience and would stay there again. I would say that if you are taking your wife that San Pedro offers more to do as far as shopping and eating places than Placencia.
