My opinion only: If it has been well cared for and after cleaning and applying a little fly line dressing it stretches nicely and there are no cracks, particularly in the first 6 ft. then it is probably fine. Even if some cracks are found in the first foot or so it can likely be simply snipped off and a new loop installed. Having said that, considering the time and $ investment in the trip, if there is any doubt maybe a new line with the old line as a back up is a good idea. If it is a VERY old line, considering the pace of line technology maybe a new and improved version is available to boot.
In this life there is fly fishing and tying...and then there is all that other stuff in between that doesn't matter.
