Have a few days vacation schedule here in mid-April. Will be taking one on my grandsons. Any input from those who have fished this section is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

We were at Branson last May. Had a great time. Went out 3 times with Capt. Steve Dickey (www.anglersadvantage.net) good boat, knows water, and very enjoyable to fish with. He's' busy and had to work us in 3 four hr trips. Fly or spin. Trying to figure when we can get back there to fish with him again.

The best walk and wade areas are right up next to the dam. The hatchery provides great access on the north shoreline. Lots of fish, too.

We boat fished with John Sappington - even my novice 16 year old daughter caught 30+ fish from the boat.

Rainbows are colorful and average 14-17". Water is generally crystal clear except when they run generators. Tiny flies, eggs, and pellet flies.

You can cross the dam and have access to the south side of the river/lake. Nice walk area and plenty of shoals to wade out on.

Best in the business Chuck Gries at Angler's Outfitters. I've been fishing there with him for 7 years! Many references since he took my whole wedding party out in Oct 2014. If you have any questions shoot me a pm. If you go to Chuck tell him The great bearded fisherman sent ya he will laugh and know exactly who I am lol

Spent the last 4 days on Taneycomo. Lots of rainbows up by the hatchery. Didn't see anyone catch a brown. They were running the equivalent of 3 generators until 9 each morning so fishing was tough but as the water levels went down late each afternoon the fish would move back into the slower water. Scuds and midges were the ticket for most days.

Orangefly you get the dates your out there nailed down shoot me a pm. May can get a day on the water together while there. It's rainbow time there now. Great streamer fishing late winter if they have a good shad kill browns and rainbows. Chopped up shad= trout chow. Now thru march or April really good shot at a trophy rainbow.

Will do Robert! I normally go in Oct. But with the little one in school I may have to change my timing up! I will know more in a couple of months! You are on my list to fish with up there and I won't forget!

Thought I would report in. Everyone's info was spot on...thanks for the replies. Well as usual for me, we when feet wet and then the generators went on. We had to dig and scrap for the rest of the am. My guide, (recommended by Orange Fly), Chuck Gries was great. He worked hard for me and used ever trick he knew. By 11 am it started to rain so hard we could not see the strike indicator...so we called it a day. Managed to dig out a total of 10. 5 dinks and 5 ok's with the biggest being 17"...3lbs. Going to try to get back there in the fall for those big browns.
