There is an access point below Longhorn dam at the Montopolis bridge. Get there a day-break and fish the right side of the river headed downstream. The water is flowing very well due to constant dam releases for irrigation. Light streamers about 8ft. deep seemed to produce OK. The brim love little poppers on the banks in the cover they get to be pretty big. There are a few smallies through here so you might want to try a red or orange crayfish pattern if you want. Good luck and tight lines.

thanks for the offer - I'll take you up on it when I can get out - I've been looking at maps on line - have you accessed the river from the greenbelt on the north side of the river - I believe its the walnut creek greenbelt?

Hey, which street are you talking about? The only bridges I ever cross are I35 and 183.

It is the 183 bridge they just call it the Montopolis bridge. Its the one that has the arched railings on one side. You cant miss it on the weekends because of the Fiesta that happens below.

The MetroMess too:

I-30, the old Tollway (been 30 years, I understand)
Loop-12, Walton Walker (I prefer Willie Wonka)
183, the Airport Freeway

I-45, the Charlton Heston (okay, I made that one up)

Well, dang'it. What the Heck does that mean? You park at Calahan's General Store, and walk down the side of he road? Do I park at the gas station across the street and sprint across 183? A LITTLE more detail, appreciated.
