Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Louis, Alexandra, Jeremy and Bree chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling in 150 feet of water north of Fort Lauderdale looking to target Blackfin Tuna. The fishing spread we used was: four surface lines with Tuna feathers and 2 deep lines with Ballyhoo's. I worked from 100 feet out to 400 feet of water, zigzagging back and forth. These fish will move to different depths depending on the water and temperature. After working a reef structure and narrowing down the best conditions, we got a double header of Mahi Mahi bites. The anglers fought the Mahi Mahi’s, bringing both to the side of the boat. Matt, our mate, put them on ice.

We continued trolling north of Fort Lauderdale when the deep Ballyhoo line ripped off drag - we had a nice Black Fin Tuna on the line. After catching the Tuna we decided to try for something larger. The trolling lines came in, and we set out one kite with two live Goggle Eyes as baits. We also put out two Shark baits – one on the surface and one deep down. Once set up, we kept the live baits on the surface and the Shark baits in line. All of sudden, we had a huge bite on the surface bait, and the line ripped out. Jeremy was the angler and started fighting the Shark. After a good battle, Jeremy got the Shark to the side of the boat – it was a Hammerhead. We were able to get the hooks out, snapped a few photos and released the Shark.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
