Their has been reports of a little action in the surf. Things may be picking up a bit. A variety of Catches, such as Smacks, Larger Croaker, a few big flounder, whiting etc. Reports of any trout have been thin. People are filling up coolers of panfish, so this is a good sign. BTW....if the Smacks are plentiful be sure to use some steel leader. Those sharp teeth will cut any mono you throw out there. They love Chart. colored arti's as well. Cut bait for the rest of the prey. Speaking of cut bait.....It is against the Law to use any "Game Fish" for Bait. So, if you do not know which fish are considered Tx Game Fish, see below: Some folks use Flounder and Sharks Belly, thin triangle strips for bait. It's tough meat, it's White, it's flashy,and it's LEGAL. More hints later !!

Flounder is legal bait?

Technically flounder are not considered as "game fish" by TPWD so in the definition of the law yes flounder could be used for bait IMHO. But for me I wouldn't want to waste any of that fish. When I get done cleaning a flounder the only thing you could use for bait is the guts and skeleton! LOL

White skin of the belly as a teaser works, never used it, but I think it needs to be from a flounder caught that same day.
