Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Robert Glenn and Joe Right from Boston were in Fort Lauderdale on business and decided to make a reservation after their meetings with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing. Winds were out of the east at 10 mph, seas running 2-4 ft., temperatures in the mid 80s with blue skies. As the two anglers boarded the boat, their request was to catch some large fish - I suggested Shark fishing, but they declined, so I recommended some wreck fishing.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, we put lines in the water north of the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale located in 120 ft. of water 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two #8 plainers and three surface baits with a daisy chain teaser. I zigzagged back and forth over the drop off and maneuvered the boat over some of the 34 artificial wrecks located in Fort Lauderdale that range from 80 ft. to 410 ft. in depths of water. The two anglers caught three Kingfish, two Bonitos, one Tuna and one Barracuda.

Now it was time to do some wreck fishing. I fished over a wreck in Fort Lauderdale located in 310 ft. of water. With a live Goggle Eye for bait and two lbs. of lead to hit the bottom, we made a drop. The rod bent over and immediately I went ahead with the boat to prevent the fish from going back into the wreck. Robert was our angler and after a ten-minute fight, the fish was alongside the boat as Dave, our mate, lifted up a 42 Amberjack. Pictures were taken and the fish was released. We made another drop and Joe was our angler and reeled in another Amberjack measuring 53. Pictures were taken and the fish was released. Robert caught one more Amberjack which was also released.

It was time to head back the anglers retired into the a/c salon for the relaxing trip back to the Bahia Mar Dock located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
