Had a first happen yesterday was at the lake and number six cylinder blew on me!! I have a 2010 Yamaha V-Max 250 series 2 and it only had 210 hrs on it!! I take really good care of my stuff and do all maintenance! My mechanic says it is the fuel we run today! If it is we are all in trouble!!! Just don't know what to do for what they want to fix this one I feel I could almost by a new one and Yamaha is not my first choice right now!!!! Any recommendations would be appreciated!!!!! Thanks

Another reason I'm glad I live in Alabama. Almost every gas station has an ethanol free pump.

I have had two motors deep-six on me in the last 15 years. They weren't 250 horse. One was a 150 and the other was a 130. It cost me about $3500 (10 years ago) to have them completely rebuilt. It's always a choice of how much money do you want to spend? Do you have the money to fix it? Or do you want to finance (or pay) 20K for a new one? I chose to fix mine.

If it was just the fuel then we would be seeing tons of problems like this. I would say a 2010 is designed for ethanol added fuel. One cylinder should not be too bad of a price to fix just need to find the real problem of why it happened. The Evinrude E tec and E tec G2 have a sale event offering a 10 year non declining 100% factory backed warranty! That is something to look at.
