Hello,
I'm looking for a good spinning rod and reel. Here are the specs I would like.

Comes with or can handle #20 line

Maybe medium to heavy action.

Decent lenght, good casting, etc.

Good price, not too expensive.

Anyone have any suggestions?

What will you be fishing for and how will you be fishing. What is not too expensive to you. Your question is a bit too broad to give a good answer.

Finding a medium rod that can handle 20lb line well (other than 20lb braid) will be a challenge.

Without knowing some details, like those mentioned above, my general recommendations are as follows:

Medium Heavy spinning rods at $50
Daiwa Jupiter at Walmart
Abu Garcia Vendetta at Walmart
Shakespeare Ugly Stik Elite online (maybe Bass Pro will carry the medium heavy in store, but most stores just carry the medium and medium light)
All Star Classic Worm rod at Academy Sports

At $80 the No. 8 Tackle Company 7'MH Spinning rod is the best at that price point

At $100 the TFO Gary Loomis Signature Series MH spinning rod online (again, Bass Pro might have the MH in store, but most carry the medium and medium light)

Spinning reels at $50
Pflueger President 6935 at Walmart

Thank you for all the replies so far. And sorry for being too broad. To answer y'alls questions, I will mainly be fishing from the bank, primarily after bass or catfish. I'd also like to spend for something under $100 if that is possible. smile

You could do 2 for $100. Bass and Channel cats could be same combo but not 20 lb line- more like 10-12 lb and have 2nd bigger rig for larger cats running 20 lb line.

Bass/Channels

Bass/Channels

Then a Qauntum Optix 60 ($24.99) on a Eagle Claw Water Eagle MH ($24.99) Rod for Stripers/ Big Cats

for catfishing, get a Pro Angler rod. 15-30 lb line rated, not a lot of money. support local business.

add your location to your profile.... smile you will be making friends here smile

Like stated 20 lb test is overkill unless your fishing for blues or flatheads. For $100 you can get to good rod/reel combos. I would get two Shimano Sienna spinning reels (one 2000 & one 3000 series). These will cost you $60 for both reels. Pair these with as medium and a medium heavy rod and you will be good to go. Academy carry quite a few decent rods for $30 or less.

Addendum: The photo is a Pflueger President Spinning with a BPro Carbonlite rod, but get the Ethos.
