I don't think there are. Seems they really run the place with a nanny state mentality. Water a few feet low- CLOSED. Water a few feet high- CLOSED.

I'm thinking of heading out there and just finding somewhere to dump the boat in.

Lake level is 256.85. 18.85 feet above normal. Releasing 2385 cfs. Rain in the area today.

All the boat ramps are still closed. The water needs to recede about 5 more feet before Overlook Marina boat ramp is open again. I did see a couple of pontoon boats in the Yegua, below the dam. I think they are launching at the bridge crossing on Hwy 36. I saw 3 trucks with empty boat trailers parked in that spot.

Fishing below the dam has continued to be good. The catfish bite seems to be improving, I saw a few decent stringers of catfish. Hybrids and whites have been better in the morning. The 90 plus degree days seemed to have slowed the hybrid bite in the afternoon. The parking lot at the spillway was full on Saturday.

Somerville is 18 FEET high today, that's a little more than a few.

So is that about a week of water releasing to bring the level down?

If no rain, probably 5 to 6 weeks.

SOMERVILLE 252.85 currently 7/11/2015 (14.8 ft high) 2305 cfs release. We may be able to get back on the lake by mid August and back to normal by later that month or early September.. excluding any major rain event..

Its been a few weeks since the last post on the lake level and I know its still 10 feet high. My question is can I find a boat ramp to put in to the lake nearby and when can I expect the lake to lower so I can enjoy it again. On a lake, 10 feet, in my mind doesn't seem that high but IDK. I'm just ready to get back out there.

From what I'm hearing about Somerville is the parks will reopen when the water has dropped below the roads plus 2 weeks for the road beds to dry out. Driving on the saturated road beds will cause failure. I would guess the ramps will open at the end of August. Overlook may be open sooner.

I've seen a couple of boats on the lake so they are getting in somewhere.. lake is @ 248.43 or 10.4 feet above pool level. I suspect the COE is being pretty cautious about opening their parks due to extensive damage not only to buildings but all of the infrastructure and many dying trees. I think the boat ramp at the Nails Creek unit of the State park is operational but when I called the message on the answering service said they were still closed..

Mr. FishTales (or sidekick)! It would be nifty if we can get another one of your Somerville vides on the airboat. I am looking forward to hitting that lake soon, but don't want to come up there with a boat for a wasted trip!

I'm landlocked for the time being.. but I think Overlook and Yegua Creek Park are open and some people are getting their boats in the lake. I suspect Yegua creek park has one of it's two ramps open.. call them to confirm @ (979) 596-1622
