Headed down to the Frio this weekend. Anyone have any tips on places to go and gear to bring? Never fished this river and would hate to get skunked...

Tight lines.

Couple of deep holes below the dam at the park. If you've got access to kayaks, a whole lot of water to try; from fast to slow. Garlic spike it is your friend. Post up pics! It's beautiful country!!

"Slow ahead." I can go slow ahead. Come on down here and chum some of this [censored].

1/0 Wacky Worm Hook With A Watermelon Chartreuse Tail. Any where there is some type of vegetation or tree in the water. This ia all you will need. Good luck.

Take a 1 or 2 weight fly rod, light tippets, and some nymphs to the upper part of the park, just downstream of the bridge. You'll have a ball.

When I was younger and went to Garner all I needed were the small rooster tails and caught everything on them... Black was one of the best colors but whites and the bright ones worked well also. Good luck

Clear or black heldon torpedo! Works very well in Frio and upper Neuces river.
