I am a Dallas resident wanting to take a group of friends camping for my birthday. Does anyone know if there are any lakes within 3-4hrs of DFW that has dry grounds camping (friday 6/5/15) and decent amount of catfish to fish for ?

Tawakoni state park or windy point both would be good bets

Huge catfish a plenty. Reservations required. See this link.

Purtis Creek is great for bass and crappie but never have caught many catfish. Great place to camp. Purtis Creek. Great campsites. Love that little lake!

If you want to make a trip to East Texas, try Martin Creek State Park. Very nice campgrounds and the lake has a good population of cats.
To whom much is given, much is required.
