According to the Austin Statesman on 5/29, the overnight rains in the area have promoted officials to open the gates at Buchanan, even though it's still 26' low. Travis should rise some more in the coming days.

Doesn't seem right, but I guess they're trying to move the water closer to Austin where there are more people. While they can.

Agree, doesn't sound fair. With Travis less than 20 feet low, the city and state would be able to collect significantly more $$ in park/launch fees. More people will go to the restaurants with Lake Travis views and spend more money at businesses around the lake.

That is an error. They have flood gates open on Lake LBJ and Marble Falls due to flooding on Llano River. This goes into lake Travis. The upper Colorado going into Buchanan has caught some good water finally and is continuing to come up. http://www.lcra.org/Pages/default.aspx

Glad to hear it's coming from LBJ, and not Buchanan.

I dont get it, money and politics would explain I guess. Austin area gets a lot of special treatment. Prime example is the 71/281 interchange. There are highway interchange in populated areas that are not as nice as that one.

Interesting, since Buchanan flows into Inks, which flows into Buchanan. Is LBJ getting its water from the Llano River?

Actually the Llano River enters the Colorado River just upstream from LBJ so yes it directly feeds LBJ. I have not heard much about the Perdernales River which dumps directly into Travis.

Interesting, since Buchanan flows into Inks, which flows into Buchanan. I LBJ getting its water from the Llano River? The Colorado river runs into Buchanan which feeds into Inks which feeds into LBJ which feeds into Lake Marble Falls which feeds eventually into Lake Travis and on to Lake Austin, Lady Bird and down the creek to eventually the floating rigs where the tuna reside.

Pedernales has been at flood stage several times since all this started. I drove out to dam on the LBJ ranch the last Saturday and it was really rolling. Flows directly into Travis. I would think it makes a significant contribution.
