Wake boats or big rollers in the wind...really no difference. I only have one pole and can tell you that in 6' of water with a solid 25 MPH wind...I can hold and it has not damage my pole at all. I have sat in one place for hours and you can feel the pole bouncing occasionally.

Of course when the wind is blowing like that I will occasionally reposition my boat....but it holds me way better than battling the TM in those conditions.

40 mph wind on Squaw last month, power pole down no issues. Maybe a little water over the back occasionally, but functionality wise, perfect.

You will not regret getting them.

Thanks for the replies. I didn't realize they held that good. Looks like a new addition to the boat soon.

Hop, good analogy, but to put it into perspective using your analogy ... put 300 (or 150 in my case) horses on that dime trying to open a paint can and you can imagine the force at that point. Now .. with that screwdriver, put it in the hands of the average person and the leverage will still be less than that of the 150 horses.

The only thing I had trouble holding on with my power pole was on an old paved bridge. It just skipped across the pavement. Other than that, it's always held!

I did sink it this past weekend in some back waters of Caddo well past the joint of the 2 pieces. My graph showed 2.5 feet and it sunk all the way down! I picked up mud from in the bottom part of the arm. Caddo has a lot of mushy ground. Very mushy.

I am not tryin to start anything but have wondered about the leverage aspect of power poles since I see so many with the main arm horizontal here on fork.

the engine mount and a power pole are apples to oranges due to the way the force is applied, the engine is pushing and has a very short leverage point (bottom bolt to bottom of prop) while the poles are 4-5' out and resemble a teeter totter. levers multiply force by length so the longer you go the easier it is to pick something up with one, this in reverse is force applied to the transom/mount and it would seem to concentrate at one point. add in the leverage of the boat length acting a counterweight and it could be a huge amount of force on it.
I have no doubt the engineers thought all this stuff out but doubt older construction types came to mind for them.

not dissin on either system but have just wondered what the forces would do to an older boat like my champion over time.

wish I could afford either one of them and just perusing a thought here, not tryin to bad mouth either system.

You will not find any marine, boat, tackle company in the industry with better customer service than Power Pole. That I promise! I have been through multiple blades, pumps, etc... because I fish almost everyday. Powerpole has overnight-ed me countless replacement parts, no questions asked. A++++ company.

Overthinking the "transom stress" thing :-)....but the original question as to whether or not it will hold when a 26' Ski Nautique flies by with one side of it's ballast tanks full and you are anchored in 4' of water near shore on Lake Austin? NO! But it will grab hold again after the surf dies...if you are not up on shore already! (Rant over)
