Been tying this one for awhile and had good success with it. Had a question from a Reader on how it's tied. Decided to post an article - "Simple Foam Rubber Grasshopper." Hope it may be of interest to others; it's basically a variation of a Foam Spider but with a different body.

Mike, I was almost too embarrassed to post my Q&D grasshopper on the same page with your ingenious creations!

Surface action was the key today. Things started out slow, and then started hooking up using a Foam Grasshopper. Action was steady, and then the bugs started flying about and the Bass and Bluegill started to feed on them. Switched to the Griffith's Gnat on a Caddis Hook and hooked a few more before heading home.

Was hoping to test out a Crawdad Pattern; ended up losing the fishing fly. Switched to a Foam Grasshopper. Hooked a few; missed a few. Still a lot of fun, especially with a fishing fly that can be tied quickly.

Simple seems to be working lately. Used the Foam Grasshopper and caught and released 25 Bass and a Big Shellcracker. No Bruiser Bass but the Shellcracker did go 9" in length! Video speed was increased to shorten the video clip...
