Hi Folks,
I am planning to going to Granger Friday afternoon in the Kayak and fish close to the dam for catfish. Does anyone have any advice for catching them around the dam? Bait, bottom fish, etc? Or maybe anywhere else on Granger that is easy to get to in the kayak. I have yet to catch any catfish in Texas and its killing me! I can catch them all day long back in Alabama.
Thanks for the info! I will definitely post pics and stuff if I do any good!
Kyle

Either one is fine. Channels are better eating, but at this point I will take any . I'm not looking for the huge blues. I want keepers to take home and put on the table.

I've heard you can tear em up on shad by the dam, but if you want channels I would probably use worms or stinkbait.

Do you or anyone know where I can get some shad over there? I do have a cast net, but I'm not very good at it . I am thinking about putting the kayak in at friendship park to paddle over to the dam. I can buy some if there are any for sale in the area.

You should be able to catch shad on the banks right now, and off lighted piers before daybreak. If you can't catch any buy some live bluegill to cut up instead of frozen cut shad.

Maybe there's a difference in Alabama cats than Texas.

Nothing . A guy I was with caught a white bass and a crappie, but I didn't get anything. Maybe someone will volunteer to take me with them so I can catch something! Thanks, Kyle

I have never been to Grainger, but was wondering if a person can walk down the dam and fish from the rocks. Is that possible?

I've always had tough luck on Granger, except below the dam when there was a lot of flow. I've never seen a lake with more carp, though.

I also have t had any luck at Granger lake I did try the river off of 29 and still no luck. I have used cutbait and live minnows still nothing.

I've caught on worms and shrimp soaked in garlic. Wind and locations is always a major factor on Granger.
