Okay...found a minor problem with my TM. The release pin/bracket that locks the TM in place or allows it to pivot up and out of the way....yeah, its not there. It has snapped off. I can still release it with my finger if I need to, but there is no way I could do it on the water.

I'm wondering if I should just lock it open. That way, if I need to raise the prop, I can just pull on a rope to life it. If I need to reverse, I can just put both feet on the pedals.

Thoughts?

I removed the part on mine. I can tilt my motor up by simply pulling a cord. If I want to back up, I just put my feet on both steering pedals and hold them in place. It works perfectly. Take the lock off and go fishing....I doubt if you'll ever miss it. I don't.

Both Minnkota and motor guide sell the replacement transom bracket for about $40. I recently made a post looking for a junk motor just to find a bracket. I plan to use it for a stake out pole.
