I mean, help my six year old daughter win it, lol.
They are stocking adult catfish in a local pond soon for a kid's fishing event. I'm assuming these are going to be channels, so I'm thinking punch bait would be the ticket for bait. Slip bobber rig? Slip sinker rig? Santee Cooper rig? I've got CJ's shad, CJ's monster, and Danny Kings punch bait already. Maybe use night crawlers instead?
Thanks for any advice for catching freshly released stockers in a pond!

I would use cut bait. I think that kind of gross for kids to be looking at... punch bait would be ok...but if u want to win, cut bait .!!! If not, go with some shrimp or like minnows. Still bring the punch bait. Just bring everything. I think like cut bait will win a competition like this.
Fishing is fun and adictive, but always stay safe. Happy Fishing! How do you add a photo...

I was thinking that stockers wouldn't know what to do with cut bait since they've been fed pellets their whole lives. But I think you are right...bring everything and see what works.

X2 on hot dog. Even a dough bait would be a good choice.

I heard to get hot dogs. Cut them into small 1/2"-3/4" sections. Put into a container, add the minced garlic and red kolade and water. Let ferment for a few days and ready to go fishing. Anyone ever try that?
Gotta catch em' all. I love to fish! 29 years fishing strong.

Alright, hot dogs and lil' smokies are going on the list. Can snack on the lil' smokies if they aren't catching.
Should I chum these with soured grain or range cubes? I've heard the stockers like dog food since that's close to what they've been eating.

range cubes should work fine....infact if its a stocked pond and the distance is short, you can use rabbit pellets.

Oh, I forgot that I have some Dead Red. I think soaking some hot dogs in that might be killer.

Thanks for any advice for catching freshly released stockers in a pond! wow i won that kid fish in 2002 at lakes of springfeild park, caught the biggest channel cat in the small pond in the back near dexham on hogwild with the sponge tube/hooks i was like 12 years old wow cant belive they still run that. it was a larger catfish since it had been there a while i dont think they stock the back tank. so she was larger then the newly stocked fish

Hey thanks, Marcus. I actually live near Springfield Park, so those will be helpful. This year, Kid Fish is at Community Park way over on the other side of town by Waterview.

Hot dogs are easy money...cheap and not messy as well. Much easier to get than shad or cut bait.
