 need recommendations for surf spinning reel

I have a spinning rod for surf fishing that I never got a reel for. I need some suggestions on a reel. Ive never had a hefty surf fishing setup and I only get to the surf once or twice a year so I don't want to spend a boatload. Looking for a decent "entry level" spinning reel for fishing big baits for bull reds, jack crevalle, etc. Thanks for the help

Without knowing your budget. Penn Pursuit 6000 $59 Shimano Socorro 8000 0r 10000 $69 and the cabelas salt striker surf spinning reel $59. Spend the rest of the money on line,leaders and a cheap set up to catch whiting and croaker while you wait. Long as you rinse them keep them oiled and greased they last a while.

Shimano reels will take a dunking and keep on chunking.
Very durable reels.

I forget the model name, but I got a daiwa spinning reel for like $35 at gander mountain a few years back. I've never done any maintenance on it, just a rinse after each use, and I still have no problems with it.

I'll second Cabelas Salt Striker reels. Just check out their reviews on Cabelas website. People love them.
I own 4 salt striker spinning reels. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

Penn fierce 8000 has held up to everything hooked so far and it caught a nice shark on tye jetty. Will truly to find the pic.
