I'm looking to improve on my battery box. I use a tupperware box and it holds the 12v just fine, but I want a new and improved setup. Let's see your images yak gurus!

Tupperware would be an upgrade for me. I keep 2 deer feeder batteries - each in its own little soft sided cooler. Never had a problem not being "waterproof". No images but it's as hokey looking as it sounds.

Ocean Kayak makes a zippered battery bag that holds a deer feeder battery suspended just below the deck in the bow; I have them in the Torque and the Trident. Work great.

+1

I actualy think a small soft sided cooler/lunch bag sounds like a good idea. specialy if you can rig it to the underside of the deck. The totaly waterproof boxes just seem like overkill for the sealed deer feeder type batteries.

I just put my battery in the plastic thing my cast net came in. Drilled a hole for the wires then gooped the hole then put some Velcro on the bottom of the box and bottom of the yak to hold it in place.

We've got lots of components for battery storage - everything here
http://shop.mariner-sails.com/Battery-Pack-and-Pelican-Case-12V-9Ah-MS-200200.htm

we stock seperately or in the complete package, here's the box

and here's a YakAttack sollution that's pretty cool too!

Have fun working this out!

That's what I have and it's all good, imo. I think waterproofing (in fresh water) is not such a big deal so long as you don't submerge the battery. I'm pulling the leads off to remove and charge the battery every trip anyway, so the corrosion isn't building up. If it did start getting crusty, I would see it...

He drilled a hole by the handle and used a cord grip to pass through.

This is my battery box. $16 off ebay. I glued some foam padding all up in it to keep the battery from moving around in the box. The box is held in place with some industrial Velcro that holds it to the kayak pretty good. You will have to yank it to remove the battery box from the kayak.
