I visited Clear Lake and Black Creek Lake today. Met some guys bank fishing at Black Creek; they didn't have any luck. They did point out a very large dead bass (8 lbs+)that was apparently stuck in the ice when they got there (see pic below). The lakes are very low, though both can be accessed via kayak. I think the water temp needs to warm up a bit before you see much activity in either of the ones I visited today, and of course we need rain!

wow, that is bad. i was thinking about making a trip up there some time soon, but reconsidering now. We need rain badly...that's a shame as the grasslands were one of my favorite places to yak.

thanks for posting the pics

Clear lake has looked like this since last summer. But black creek is getting worse. Still beasts in clear lake though

I visited Dan's pond out there today. Its pretty darn low too, maybe an acre of water left. Another very small pond out there that i once fished regularly for the surprisingly decent sized channel cats it had in it was totally dry, not a puddle left.

Increasing water temperatures should also help greatly... plan to get out there by the end of month if work permits!

Black creek has been tough on me every time that I've been there. I caught a few in clear lake last year but nothing big.

Man those lakes look low. I was thinking about making a trip out there but I think I'll wait.

I wish those lakes would come up so we can have another tournament like Tom and Jason put on up there. Lots of limits caught. That was a great time.
