Have Sunday breakfast or brunch at Max's Wine Dive downtown on San Jacinto. Breakfast tacos with braised duck.

Franklin's BBQ is only open for lunch. They open at 11:00 a.m. but you better be in line no later than 8:00. They stay open til they run out of food but the brisket will be gone long before the ribs or pulled pork. Many times (I'm told), because of the number of folks in line, there is a "Sold Out" sign in the window before they even open.

For an evening dessert try Gordoughs. It a food truck in a park just south of the river. Giant doughnuts with a huge list of toppings, like chocolate fudge, marshmallow with chocolate fudge, bacon and cream cheese. Heck, there were so many I can't begin to remember them all. We waited in line for over 30 minutes, but it was well worth it.

Yes, just off 5th on congress. There is also one on Jolleyville Road near the Arboritum.

Polvos is excellent, too.
